A Partnership with Purpose: eManaged Welcomes GDP Industries

We’re incredibly pleased to announce a new partnership between eManaged and GDP Industries in Geelong.

There are some partnerships that make sense from a business perspective, and then there are those that mean a little more because of the impact the organisation is having in its community.

For us, GDP Industries is both.

GDP Industries is a Geelong social enterprise and registered charity that has been creating supported employment opportunities for people living with disability since 1965. From its North Geelong operation, the organisation provides meaningful long-term employment, training and work experience while delivering valuable services to businesses and the wider community.

That purpose immediately resonated with us.

A Geelong organisation making a genuine difference

At eManaged, being part of the communities we operate in matters.

We don’t want to simply provide technology services to businesses in a region. We want to build relationships with the organisations that are helping those regions become stronger.

GDP Industries is a great example of that.

At the heart of what they do is meaningful employment for people living with disability. But the impact extends much further.

Their commercial operations give employees the opportunity to develop skills, participate in meaningful work and be part of a supportive workplace, while also helping local businesses solve real operational problems.

It is a model where commercial outcomes and community outcomes can work together.

That is something we’re very proud to support.

There’s much more happening at GDP Industries than many people realise

One of the things we particularly like about GDP Industries is the breadth of what happens behind the doors of its North Geelong facility.

This isn’t simply a community organisation with a small recycling program attached.

GDP operates a light-industrial factory and undertakes work across areas including packaging, textiles, woodwork, steel, recycling and resource recovery. Its services include confidential document shredding, mattress and polystyrene recycling, pallet recycling, e-waste disassembly, clothing recovery and a range of packaging projects.

GDP has also managed the City of Greater Geelong’s Resource Recovery Centre for more than 20 years, helping reusable materials avoid landfill and find another purpose.

So while the social impact is central to GDP’s reason for being, there is also a very real operational environment behind it.

People. Processes. Equipment. Information.

Customers and community partners relying on things being done properly.

That makes this partnership particularly exciting for us.

Supporting organisations where technology matters to operations

eManaged is increasingly working with organisations where technology is deeply connected to day-to-day operations.

Manufacturing, processing, recycling and other operational businesses face a particular set of technology challenges.

IT can’t simply sit in an office and be treated as something separate from the rest of the organisation.

When technology isn’t working properly, the effects can move quickly through the business. Staff can lose access to information. Processes slow down. Communication becomes harder. Operational teams can be affected by systems that, on the surface, may appear to have very little to do with production.

Cybersecurity also becomes increasingly important.

Operational businesses hold employee data, customer information, supplier details and financial records just like any other organisation. They also depend on reliable access to systems to keep work moving.

That is why we believe technology planning needs to start with understanding the organisation itself.

How does the work flow?

What systems do people rely on?

Where could downtime cause problems?

What needs to be protected?

And where could better technology make things simpler for the people actually doing the work?

Those are much more useful questions than simply asking what hardware or software a business currently has.

Local partnerships matter to us

There is another reason we’re particularly pleased about this partnership.

GDP Industries is part of the Geelong community.

As eManaged continues to grow our presence in Geelong, we want to do that by becoming genuinely connected with the businesses and organisations that make the region what it is.

That means supporting local organisations, participating in the business community and finding opportunities where the work we do can contribute to something bigger.

In GDP’s case, every service they provide helps create meaningful work opportunities for people living with disability.

When local businesses work with GDP, that commercial activity helps support that mission.

For us, being able to partner with an organisation built around that purpose is something worth celebrating.

Technology should support the mission, not get in the way of it

The best technology is often the technology people barely notice.

It works. It’s reliable. It keeps information safe.

And it allows people to get on with the job they are actually there to do.

For an organisation like GDP Industries, that matters.

Their focus should be on their people, their customers, the services they provide and the impact they are creating throughout Geelong.

Our role is to help make sure technology supports that work.

It is the same philosophy we bring to every eManaged partnership.

We want to understand where an organisation is heading and then make sure its technology helps it get there.

Sometimes that means reducing risk.

Sometimes it means improving reliability.

Sometimes it is about planning ahead so technology doesn’t become a barrier as the organisation evolves.

Usually, it is a combination of all three.

Why this partnership matters to us

We talk often at eManaged about wanting to help the businesses and communities we serve become stronger.

This partnership gives us an opportunity to put that into practice.

GDP Industries combines social impact, sustainability and real commercial capability in a way that has been benefiting the Geelong community for decades.

They create meaningful employment.

They help businesses solve practical problems.

They recover and reuse materials that may otherwise end up in landfill.

And they continue looking for new opportunities to grow their services and create more impact.

We’re delighted to now be part of that journey.

A huge welcome to the team at GDP Industries.

We’re looking forward to working alongside you and supporting the important work you do throughout Geelong.

And if you’re a manufacturing, processing, recycling or operational business looking for an IT partner that wants to understand how your organisation actually works, we’d love to have that conversation too.
